• Notes

  Regina’s death notice states that she had two deceased sons, the one we know as Christian, and the other unknown. Some family trees also suggest that the couple had a daughter, Jennie (or Jeannie) Mayer, born in September 1890, who died shortly after birth, though no records have been found to confirm this. The 1900 census reports that Regina had three children, with two still living. Some census takers clearly struggled with the name “Regina,” recording her at various times as “Lageva” and “Eugina,” and even listing her as “Mary” in the 1930 census.
