    • His parents were Frank Bowe and Alice Williams.

      He served in the United States Army during World War II from February 24, 1943, until November 10, 1945, with the 129th AAA Gun Battalion. His service included participation in the invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of prisoners from Auschwitz and other prisoner-of-war camps. He was awarded six Bronze Stars and six combat awards.
